First Shimadzu Sonialvision G4 multipurpose R/F system with Advanced Clinical Solutions installed in the US

Shimadzu Medical Systems USA, a subsidiary of Shimadzu Corporation, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of advanced diagnostic imaging systems, announces the first Sonialvision G4 installed with Advanced Clinical Solutions at Union Hospital, MD.

The Sonialvision G4 is designed to perform a wide variety of examinations – endoscopy, videofluoroscopy for gastrointestinal series and swallowing exams, orthopedic exams, and general radiography. It acquires high resolution images rapidly and uses low radiation dose levels. Its new ergonomic design is patient safety- and hygiene-focused, accommodates all sizes of ambulatory and stretcher/wheelchair confined patients, and offers workflow-efficiency features to help improve technologist productivity. The patient table is bariatric use approved. The system combines a 17” x 17” flat panel detector (FPD) with Shimadzu’s next generation digital imaging platform. Union Hospital’s Sonialvision G4 is equipped with a suite of advanced clinical solutions available for traditional radiology, including large format Tomosynthesis imaging as well as Slot Beam radiography, a lower dose exposure profile used for exact anatomical measurement and an excellent choice for pediatrics. One exceptional use of Tomosynthesis offers orthopedic surgeons a 3D like image of joints needed to be replaced, like knees and hips, giving them a clear visualization before and after surgery.
