Smart DSI aids the detection of objects retained in the body by enhancing regions of the image that potentially show surgical needles, gauze with radiopaque threads, and other foreign objects.

* Do not rely solely on the imaging processing capabilities of Smart DSI when determining if foreign objects are retained in the patient. Use visual image confirmation, gauze counts, and other methods in reaching a final judgment.
* The AI (artificial intelligence) technology used in Smart DSI is not a self-guided iterative learning-type AI.

For use in surgical operations, the new image processing function helps to confirm the absence of residual instruments like gauze and needles. This is also useful to reconfirm locations for the catheter tip in PICC insertion procedures more clearly.
